  1. So glad you posted this! You are right on! Really tired of seeing listings when I am using precious time to find and relevant articles to improve my business or share with others.

You absolutely nailed this post Bill! One of my biggest pet peeves is real estate agents who put listings into Linkedin groups. How stupid can you be! It is especially annoying when the rules of the group specifically state it is no allowed. Why is is that so many Realtors can only think about promotion?

  3. This is a GREAT article! I have several friends making these mistakes on social media, and it’s very frustrating. I care less and LESS about their cute baby pictures as they start posting more and MORE ads (and they’re not just realtors). But I also see some places where I could improve my social media presence (and stop annoying my friends right back). Thanks for sharing!

  4. Great points Bill! I think these same points could be used for blogging. When I visit many Realtors blogs they are talking about their latest listings or it is a billboard for their services. Just like social media – be social without being screaming your ulterior motive. 🙂

  5. Great post, Bill!
You touched on the Big Five and handled them effectively.
As a home inspector, one of the things I always try to do is provide relative information. Also, I am trying to promote others and in doing so, I get my name in front of people too.
    It’s all about the information…..

  6. Bill, this is a wonderful post of tips and information for all of us to use! Thank you for sharing it!

  7. Very helpful summary of the main social media sites. I especially like the “timing” tips. I just started using “Buffer” and think it will allow me to set post times. Thanks for the concise tips Bill.

  8. Thank you Bill! this is really helpful to revise and take benefits from the social network, choose the right time, the right words …

  9. Really great tips and info. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Great article, so very true. Thank you for sharing.

  11. This is a very good article instructing one on how to use and not use social media. I am finding following the don’t and do’s have improved my use of social media. By the way, I have always tried to use social media to provide quality and useful information to others first and foremost.

  12. Bill Gassett

Thanks everyone for all your compliments on the article. I am glad you enjoyed it!

  13. Justin Poplawski

Thanks for posting this! It was very insightful.

  14. Thanks Bill I was not aware of the news feed on linkedIn. I will have to check it out and see what traction I get with an article or two. So far communities seem to work the best

  15. Great insight. Thanks Bill!

  16. This is a great piece and helps me going forward as I start a career in real estate.
Amazes me how many agents still don’t understand social media at all.
